2015 Small Business Symposium

Enactus of Washington Adventist University will be hosting the 2015 Small Business Symposium on January 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Azalea Room at the Takoma Park Community Center. This program will focus on marketing, planning, branding, and social media, feature several presenters, and provide short working sessions where business owners will be able to share ideas, receive feedback from the presenters, and start putting a marketing plan together. Takoma Junction Redevelopment Listening Sessions

A series of Listening Sessions are scheduled in early 2015 for residents, neighbors, and business owners to share their thoughts on the Takoma Junction Redevelopment with City Council and each other. The format will be an open forum moderated by the City Manager. The Listening Sessions will be held in the Community Center Auditorium at 7:00 p.m.:

  • Wednesday, January 21
  • Tuesday, February 3
  • Tuesday, February 10 (tentative)

On Saturday, March 28th, hundreds of people will come together on the campus of Montgomery College Takoma Park/Silver Spring to celebrate our environment and the role we all play in keeping it healthy. The Montgomery County GreenFest is a free event with something for everyone to enjoy.

Lifelong Takoma’s Snow Shoveling Partnership

Are you physically unable to shovel your snow?

The City's Lifelong Takoma Program and Takoma Middle School's "Difference Maker's" student volunteers club have joined together to help residents who are physically unable to remove snow from their steps, walkways and sidewalks.

...Or are you someone interested in joining student volunteers to shovel? 

If so, please contact lifelong@takomaparkmd.gov or call 301-891-7232 and leave a recorded message. Please be sure to include your name, home address, a return phone number and specify your interest. Volunteer service is provided solely for Takoma Park residents. Just register one time for the full winter season.  Get registered before the next snow fall!!

City Manager Brian Kenner to Resign

Mayor Bruce Williams announces that Takoma Park City Manager Brian Kenner has been named Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development by Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and will resign his post as City Manager of Takoma Park. He leaves for his new position after 19 months of service as Takoma Park’s top executive. Previous to serving as the City Manager, Kenner was the Chief Operating Officer for the Deputy Mayor's Office of Planning and Economic Development for the District of Columbia.
