Theft - Community Advisory

On March 30, 2014, at approximately 9:30 am, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue (Aldis) for a report of a theft that occurred earlier. An unknown suspect entered the business and stole property. The suspect is described as a black male, 5'10, 250 lbs., last seen wearing a blue raincoat and dark hat.

Serious Crime Down by 4% in Takoma Park; Chief Promotes Officers - Welcomes New Employees and Weekly Crime Report 3/14/14 – 3/27/14

As will be noted in the 2013 Annual Takoma Park Police Crime Report, which has recently been completed, serious crime is down by 4% in Takoma Park in 2013 from 2012. There has been some increases in some types of serious crimes (burglaries) from the five year average. This trend has also been happening in surrounding jurisdictions as well. Police are actively working to reduce this small spike and have engaged the community and surrounding jurisdictions to help.

Protect Your Bikes and Outdoor Property - Community Advisory

With spring here (despite the cold and snow), and summer approaching, it is unfortunately a time when your bikes and outdoor property may be vulnerable. Please consider these tips to protect your property:

When you are at home, please keep your bike(s) secure and locked at all times.

When you are out, always lock your bike, even if you are only leaving it for a few minutes.

Bicycle Theft - Community Advisory

On March 26, 2014, at approximately 3:16 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 6900 block of Prince George's Avenue for a report of a stolen bicycle. Unknown suspect(s) stole the victim's bicycle from the detached garage of the residence. The bicycle is described as black with the word Klein written in gold. There is also a painted silver line on the frame of the bicycle towards the handlebars. The suspect is described as a male, last seen wearing a black hooded jacket and dark blue jeans.

Strong Arm Robbery; 2nd Degree Assault - Community Advisory

On March 25, 2014, at approximately 8:12 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7100 block of Willow Avenue for the report of a strong arm robbery. The victim was retrieving his recycle bin from his yard when he was assaulted by two suspects. The suspects can only be described as two black males, 15-18 years old. The suspects pulled the victim's jacket over his head so he could not provide a better description. The suspects stole property from the victim and then fled on food down Willow Avenue, turning right on to Tulip Avenue.
