Please Welcome the City of Takoma Park Police Department's New Crime Analyst; Takoma Park Police Department Weekly Crime Report 7/25/2014 - 7/31/2014

Mr. Andrea Artero is the newly appointed Crime Analyst for the City of Takoma Park Police Department. 
 
Born and raised in Italy, Andrea has a Degree in Law from the University of Rome (Italy) and a Master’s Degree in Political Sciences and International Relations from the University of Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium). 
 
Andrea worked initially in Belgium, Haiti and Bosnia Herzegovina, having a first career in the area of emergency aid and development. After that, he worked as an Analyst for the last 10 years, first for the European Union Police Mission in Sarajevo (Bosnia Herzegovina) and then in the Case Analysis Unit of the European Union Judicial Cooperation Unit – Eurojust in The Hague (The Netherlands). Eurojust is the Agency of the European Union responsible for the coordination of criminal investigations against organized crime and terrorism. 
 
Andrea's previous experience, working to combat crime through criminal investigation analysis, serves as an excellent background for his new work in the Criminal Investigation Division (CID).  In that division, he will be analyzing statistical data and supporting active criminal investigations working with the CID Detectives and Special Assignment Team (SAT).
 
Andrea is excited about working in Takoma Park and has already hit the ground running.  Chief Goldberg states, "Andrea brings a wealth of knowledge, training and experience to his position as the Takoma Park Police Crime Analyst.  In his first two weeks, he has already initiated communications with area crime analysts, improved our reporting methods and made improvements in our crime analysis methodology.  We are very fortunate to have him."
 
Andrea lives with his wife and three children in Bethesda, Maryland.

Arrests:
 
7500 block of Maple Avenue, on Friday, July 25 at 10:56 am, a male, 45, was arrested being a fugitive from Maryland jurisdiction.
 
7600 block of New Hampshire, on Saturday, July 26 at 6:41 pm, a female, 39, was arrested for failure to appear in court. She was also issued two state citations for driving without license and failure to display license.
 
7400 block of New Hampshire, on Tuesday, July 29 at 12:49 pm, a female, 36, was arrested for trespassing.
 
7600 block of Maple Avenue, on Wednesday, July 30 at 9:21 am, officers responded for a theft. A male, 37, was shortly after arrested for the theft.
 
7500 block of New Hampshire Avenue, on Thursday, July 31 at 8:00 pm, a male, 39, was arrested for possession of controlled dangerous substance (CDS) marijuana.
 
8600 block of Flower Avenue, on Thursday, July 31 at 6:30 pm, a male, 20, was arrested for possession of controlled dangerous substance (CDS) marijuana.
 
8600 block of Flower Avenue, on Thursday, July 31 at 6:40 pm, a male, 58, was arrested for possession of controlled dangerous substance (CDS) marijuana.
 
Additionally, on Monday, July 28 at 10:30 am, a male, 20, was arrested in Silver Spring for a theft of a scooter that occurred on July 14 in Takoma Park.
