About Our Adult Programs

The Takoma Park Recreation Department provides adult programs and services that include health and wellness classes, art programs, sports, social activities, lifelong learning activities, and volunteer opportunities with an emphasis on diversity.

Adult Story Telling

Sharing our memories of important life events is part of what makes us human. Writing our stories can be a satisfying way of sharing those memories with family and friends. This class is for men and women who would like to write about their lives, or simply want to try creative writing. Classes will include in-class writing, interview skills, and use of games and activities to jump-start our memories. Students should bring a notebook or laptop to every class. 8 Weeks.  Instructor: Barbara Rosenblatt

Boom! Body Boot Camp

This high intensity boot camp is a workout for those who are serious about getting in shape. Our boot camp focuses on all areas of the body, improving stamina and overall health through the use of agility drills, plyometrics, Pilates and strength training. We will use great music to keep you energized and motivated. Instructors: Jeanette Chandler & Stacy Julien of StayJay Fitness.

Wednesdays & Saturdays
Wednesdays, 6 – 7 pm
Saturdays, 9 – 10 am

Session 2: October 11 – November 5
Session 3: November 19 – December 17

Pilates (Beginners)

This fun and invigorating workout teaches controlled movements utilizing the body's "core" - abdomen, back, and hips. Pilates improves core control, coordination, standing alignment and balance with mat exercises. Pilates is the ultimate mind body exercise for anyone who wants to tone, streamline, and realign their body. Co-sponsored by the Montgomery County Recreation Department. Students are required to bring their own mat and hand weights. Instructor: Nancy Nickell.
