On August 6, 2013, at approximately 2:46 pm , Takoma Park Police responded to an incident that occurred on Boyd Avenue. An unknown male subject followed a walking juvenile female victim up Boyd Avenue in his car. The unknown male stopped and asked the victim for directions and then engaged her in small talk while the victim was on a bench at Jackson/Boyd Park. The unknown male exited his vehicle and took a pocket knife and held it so the victim could see it and told her "you should come with me." The unknown male did not make an attempt to use the knife on the victim. The victim fled to a nearby house and knocked on a door and the unknown suspect drove off toward Carroll Avenue. An area canvass was conducted with negative results.
The suspect is described as a black male, light skinned, long dreadlocks, last seen wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt. The vehicle he was driving was small, older model white hatchback with a black stripe and body damage.
Takoma Park Police Detectives are investigating the incident and we have increased patrols. We routinely conduct Park checks as well. While the subject had a knife in his hand, he made no overt threat. We are taking this matter seriously and will release information when we can.
