Political Signs in the Public Right-of-Way

Monday, May 12, 2014

As the June 24 primary election approaches, residents are reminded that campaign signs must be placed on private property and NOT on public rights-of-way.  If you have a sign on display in support of your favorite candidate or taking a position for or against an issue, please be sure it is in your yard. Political signs displayed in the public right of way - generally the grassy strip between the sidewalk and the street - will be removed.

The Montgomery County Sign Ordinance is applicable within the City of Takoma Park. Montgomery County Permitting Services has issued guidance about placement of signs: Information About Political Signs.
