In August 2007 the City of Takoma Park held a design charrette oriented to coming up with a concept for redesigning New Hampshire Avenue. The main outlines of the resulting conceptual plan can be viewed on this page: see especially the Final power point presentation and the Meeting notes from the final presentation of the design team. This concept was presented to the City Council in November 2008. Finally, please bear in mind that great spaces with a real ‘sense of place’ simply cannot be created by fiat. Your participation truly is necessary. This plan will not be implemented without your support, input and work. Use the design sections of this site as a springboard for your own creative thinking. |
