In August 2007 the City of Takoma Park held a design charrette oriented to coming up with a concept for redesigning New Hampshire Avenue. The main outlines of the resulting conceptual plan can be viewed on this page: see especially the Final power point presentation and the Meeting notes from the final presentation of the design team. This concept will be presented to the City Council in November. Stay tuned as we update this site over the coming weeks, and as we add new recommendations from the consultant team and other changes. Finally, please bear in mind that great spaces with a real ‘sense of place’ simply cannot be created by fiat. Your participation truly is necessary. Use the design sections of this site as a springboard for your own creative thinking. |
