Peter has lived in the Washington, DC area since the early 1980s, and in 1992 moved to Takoma Park, where he lives on Holly Avenue with his wife Paula. His children Sarah and Paul attended local public schools before graduating from college.
After serving in political positions in the Federal Government for over 30 years, Peter left government service in 2013. His employment included working for U.S. Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) for 25 years, with 18 years as Chief of Staff. He also worked for 4 years in the Obama Administration at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, as Assistant Secretary for Congressional and Intergovernmental Relations.
Peter was the Chairman of Maryland Delegate Heather Mizeur’s campaign for Governor, and is a board member of Crittenton Services of Greater Washington. He has served on the boards of the Village of Takoma Park, the Takoma Foundation, and DC-MD Neighbors for Takoma Transit, and is a second grade tutor at Takoma Park Elementary School.
Peter’s previous local service included membership on the Takoma Park Public Safety Citizens Advisory Committee and the City Manager selection panel, as well as having been a coach and participant in many Takoma Park recreational sports activities.
