Sick of Signs Week! September 13-19

Put "Street Spam" back in the can for National Sick of Signs Week!
During September 13 -19, City residents can win prizes for illegally-posted signs they remove from public utility poles, bus shelters, transformer boxes (and for free-standing signs in the public right of way).
The City will serve refreshments, tally signs, and give prizes for the most signs collected at the Awards Ceremony on Monday September 21, at 6:30 p.m. in the Takoma Park Community Center, 7500 Maple Avenue.
"Street Spam" can be signs that offer to buy your house, tow your unwanted car, help you lose weight, or advise enrolling your children in a camp. Signs displayed on someone's front lawn are legal and should not be collected.
Find a really outrageous sign or a really common sign, a really confusing sign or a really big sign --  just make sure you tear them down!

About Code Enforcement

The Code Enforcement Division's primary mission is to protect the health and wellbeing of Takoma Park residents through the preservation of its residential and commercial infrastructure. Responsibilities include the inspection and licensing of residential rental structures, community-wide enforcement of the Property Maintenance Code and other nuisance ordinances, the investigation of nuisance complaints, and referrals to appropriate county and state agencies in situations where local codes do not apply.

Enforcement efforts are coordinated to the greatest extent possible with other City departments and County and State officials. We also work closely with the community, maintaining positive relationships with Takoma Park business associations, neighborhood groups, property owners and residents.

To be effective and efficient, Code Enforcement staff also need the cooperation of residents and businesses. To learn more, explore the links on the left or contact the Code Enforcement Division:
