UPDATE! City offices closed for July 4th holiday

City of Takoma Park government offices will be closed Friday July 4th in observance of Independence Day. All Friday trash & recycling pickups will occur on Thursday, July 3rd. The Police Department will remain open 24 hours a day as always. The Community Center lobby will be open on July 4th for public restrooms and event organizers. The Community Center and Computer Learning Center will be closed July 5th & 6th. The Library will be open normal hours of 10-5 on July 5th.
Council unanimously adopts Resolution 2008-49 opposing the abusive factory farming practice of force feeding ducks and geese for foie gras (June 30, 2008).
Friday, July 4: Takoma Park's 119th Annual Independence Day Parade commences at 10 a.m.; evening gala begins at 7:30 p.m., with fireworks to follow at 9:30 p.m. For more information, please call 301-270-6876 or visit www.takomapark4th.org.

The Takoma Park Tree Commission is looking for a few Champions. Nominate your Champion Oak, Beech and Sycamore Trees here. Nominations are due by August 15, 2008.
