The 120th Annual Independence Day celebration starts at 10 a.m. Saturday July 4th with a parade along Carroll and Maple Avenues. The evening program begins at 7 p.m., with fireworks to begin at dark. For more information please visit www.takomapark4th.org

City offices and the community center will be closed Friday July 3rd in observance of the Independence Day Holiday. Friday trash and recycling collections will occur Thursday, July 2.

The requirement of attending the June 19, 2009 Pre-Bid Meeting is rescinded. The bid date has been extended to Friday, July 10, 2009 at 10 am. The period for submitting questions has been extended to Tuesday, June 30 at 10 am. A non-mandatory walk-through at the site will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 10 am. All information, bid amendments, and updates will be posted to www.takomaparkmd.gov/auditorium.
NEW! City to move to Single Stream Collection

Takoma Park's curbside recycling program will now accept all types of rigid plastic containers, milk cartons, juice boxes and plastic bags! The collected materials will be processed at Recycle America's facility in Capital Heights, Maryland. The processing facility accepts recycling collected together - also known as single stream processing. Residents should continue to place mixed papers and newspapers in paperbags or tied into bundles. The bottles and cans can continue to be placed together in the recycling container. Please do not put loose papers int eh recycling container! For additional information click here.
NEW! Ride On Routes 18 and 25 to Change in September

The Montgomery County Council has found a way to avoid cuts in service proposed by Ride On to save money. The proposed changes to Routes 18 and 25 will take place in September, due to the positive testimony from Takoma Park residents for this proposal. For more information, click here.

The City of Takoma Park has launched a new Online Customer Service Center, My TKPK. Use My TkPk for service requests, to get information about City services and programs, and to find answers to Frequently Asked Questions. The previous online service, Action, is still available while we transition to the new service but we hope you'll try My TkPk and let us know what you think! Click HERE to enter My TkPk. The Pool at Piney Branch Elementary School announces new Community Swim Hours: Sunday 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Monday - Friday 6:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. and Monday - Wednesday 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m, Fridays 4:00 p.m. - 7 p.m..Thursday afternoons have scheduled activities and classes.
