The Takoma Park Maryland Library has two amazing author events coming up in late August!

Kate DiCamillo

Mark your calendars to meet a true children’s literature star! Author Kate DiCamillo – the current National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature – will speak on Friday, August 29 at 7:00 pm (calendar) at the Takoma Park Community Center Auditorium. DiCamillo won the 2014 Newbery Medal for her book “Flora & Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures,” and she’ll talk about that book, her 2004 Newbery Medal-winning book “The Tale of Despereaux,”  her latest book, “Leroy Ninker Saddles Up,” and more. DiCamillo will sign books at the end of the program; books will be available for purchase, courtesy of Politics & Prose Bookstore. But no purchase is necessary to attend this free – and very special! – program.

Peter Brown

Award-winning children’s book author/artist Peter Brown will speak about his newest book, “My Teacher Is a Monster (No, I Am Not!),” on Thursday, August 28 at 7:00 pm (calendar) at the Takoma Park Maryland Library. Brown’s program will include a drawing demonstration.  Brown is the creator of such popular picture books as “The Curious Garden,” “Children Make Terrific Pets,” the 2013 Caldecott Honor Book “Creepy Carrots,” and “Mr. Tiger Goes Wild,” the winner of the 2014 Boston Globe Horn Book Picture Book Award. Brown’s books will be available for purchase, courtesy of Politics & Prose Bookstore, but our event is free and no purchase is required to attend.

See you there!
