Attempt Theft of Bicycle; Assault - Community Advisory

On August 19, 2013, at approximately 7:32 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 8500 block of Flower Avenue for reports of an attempt to steal a bicycle and assault. The victim's bike was locked to a bicycle rack to the rear of the parking lot of an apartment building. Three unknown male suspects attempted to use an unknown object to cut the chain off of the bicycle. The victim confronted the suspects who then assaulted him. The suspects fled without the bicycle on Flower Avenue towards the Washington Adventist Hospital.

Bicycle Thefts; Destruction of Property - Community Advisory

On August 19, 2013, at approximately 6:30 am, Takoma Park Police responded to the 1200 block of Myrtle Avenue for a report of two stolen bicycles. Unknown suspect(s) stole the victim's white/black Trek bike and GT Mountain bike, which were secured. by throwing a rock through the window to the apartment building and gaining access. The metal rope style lock was cut and left behind; the club style lock was taken with the bikes.

Bicycle Theft - Community Advisory

On August 15, 2013, at approximately 5:43 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7700 block of Garland Avenue for a report of a stolen bicycle. Unknown suspect(s) stole the victim's black/red Schwinn 700c bicycle, which was secured to her porch railing, by cutting the cable lock. This occurred some time overnight.

Takoma Park Police Department Weekly Crime Report: 8/2/13 - 8/15/13

Arrests:

1100 blk. of University Blvd., on Thursday, August 15th at 2:36 a.m., a male 39, was arrested for having an open driving on a suspended license warrant.

1300 blk. of University Blvd., on Saturday, August 3rd at 5:14 a.m., a male 43, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Telephone Scam Attempting to Utilize Police Notification – Community Advisory

Recently, local police department dispatchers received a phone call from a man with a Jamaican accent. He identified himself as Derek Young and wanted police officers sent to an address in the area to notify a woman of a death in her family and a phone number the woman could call for more information. He identified himself as a family member of the woman.
