Theft and Vandalism - Community Advisory

On July 3, 2013, at approximately 12:31 pm, Takoma Park Police responded for a report of a theft that occurred in the 400 block of Circle Avenue. Two unknown black males (described as in their early 40's and both last seen wearing t-shirts and blue jeans) pulled their pick up truck next to the side of the residence and removed the central air conditioning unit. They also kicked in the rear door of the residence but did not make entry.

Takoma Park Police Department Weekly Crime Report: 6/28/13 - 7/3/13

Arrests:

7400 blk. of New Hampshire Ave., on Sunday, June 30th at 11:00 p.m., a male 27, was arrested for disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice.

6900 blk. New Hampshire Ave., on Friday, June 28th at 2:35 p.m., a male 74, was arrested for having an open failure to appear in court warrant.

Attempt Theft from Auto - Community Advisory

On July 2, 2013, at approximately 1:45 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7100 block of Central Avenue for a report of an attempt theft from auto. Some time between 7:30 pm on July 1 and 9:00 am on July 2, unknown suspect(s) entered the vehicle through an unlocked passenger side door. No property was taken.

Road Closures Due to Repaired Gas Leak – Community Advisory

Washington Gas is on the scene and has repaired a gas leak at Allegheny and Elm Avenue. The following roads continue to be closed:

Elm Avenue

All of Jackson Avenue to 113 Elm Avenue

Allegheny Avenue closed off at Elm Avenue

Allegheny Avenue closed to 2nd Avenue

Residential Burglary - Community Advisory

On July 1, 2013, at approximately 2:05 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7000 block of Sycamore Avenue for reports of a residential burglary that occurred earlier some time between 10:30 am and 2:00 pm. Unknown suspect(s) made entry into the residence by forcing open the front door causing damage. Property was stolen.

Attempt Residential Burglary - Community Advisory

On July 1, 2013, at approximately 2:30 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 1200 block of Myrtle Avenue for reports of an attempt burglary. Some time between 6:15 am and 2:25 pm, unknown suspect(s) attempted to pry/remove a window screen from an unsecured ground level window next to the apartment building entrance. The screen was pried and bent in an attempt to remove it. Entry was not made.

Residential Burglary - Community Advisory

On June 29, 2013, at approximately 1:00 am, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7300 block of Baltimore Avenue for reports of a residential burglary that occurred earlier some time between 8:30 pm on June 28 and 1:00 am on June 29. Unknown suspect(s) made entry into the residence by throwing a brick through a basement window and unlocking the window to gain entry. Property was stolen.
