Theft from Building - Community Advisory

On February 11, 2014, at approximately 6:23 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 6800 block of New Hampshire Avenue (Metro PCS Authorized Dealer) for a report of a theft that occurred earlier. Three unknown suspect(s) entered the business and stole property. The three suspects are described as:

1. Black male wearing a dark green jacket, orange shirt and orange and dark striped beanie cap.

Stolen Auto - Community Advisory

On February 11, 2014, at approximately 1:17 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 1300 block of Holton Lane for a report of a stolen auto. The outstanding stolen vehicle is described as a 2013 gray Toyota Highlander, MD Tag #8BD1649.

Winter Storm Warning - Community Advisory

The National Weather Service has upgraded the Winter Storm Watch to a Winter Storm Warning indicating heavy snowfall or ice accumulations are now imminent. The WINTER STORM WARNING is in effect from Wednesday evening through Thursday evening.

 

A WINTER STORM WARNING means that significant amounts of snow, sleet, or freezing rain are expected or are occurring in the warned area.

 

A Message from the Maryland State Fire Marshal - Four Deaths in 2014 Share a Common Theme - Community Advisory

Seven deaths in Maryland have occurred in fire related incidents during the first two months of 2014. Four of these incidents revealed smoke alarms were present, but were rendered inoperable as result of dead or missing batteries. The Office of the State Fire Marshal requests all Marylanders to remain vigilant with maintaining smoke alarms in their homes. The few minutes it takes to check these life saving devices can make all the difference if your home is being overwhelmed by the effects of fire.

A Message from PEPCO -- PEPCO Preparing for Approaching Winter Storm - Community Advisory

Pepco is closely monitoring Wednesday evening’s approaching winter storm. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Wednesday evening through Thursday evening that is expected to bring snow and sleet into the service territory. The total accumulation for our region is expected to be several inches.

Residential Burglary - Community Advisory

On February 10, 2014, at approximately 6:16 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 8500 block of Sligo Creek Parkway for a residential burglary alarm. Upon arrival, officers noticed the door to the house had been kicked in. A perimeter was established around the residence while awaiting Montgomery County K9. Takoma Park Police Officers and Montgomery County K9 walked through the residence with the homeowner. It is believed that no property was stolen.

Residential Burglary - Community Advisory

On February 10, 2014, at approximately 6:17 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 8400 block of Piney Branch Road for report of a residential burglary that had just occurred. The victim was inside his residence when he heard knocking on the door, then banging and then the door open up. When the victim called out, there was no one there. The victim's rear door of his residence was broken. No property was taken.

Residential Burglary - Community Advisory

On February 10, 2014, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7500 block of Carroll Avenue for report of a residential burglary. Sometime between 11:45 am and 12:45 pm, unknown suspect(s)made entry into the residence by forcefully kicking open the front door causing damage to the door. Property was stolen.
