On July 12, 2013, at approximately 11:22 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 8100 block of Flower Avenue, Takoma Park, Maryland, for the report of a robbery that occurred. The victim left his residence, and while walking outside, he noticed a dark colored SUV style vehicle drive by him and then stop. One suspect exited the vehicle and demanded property from the victim. The victim indicated he did not have any and attempted to walk away. A second suspect exited the same vehicle and approached the victim. Both suspects physically assaulted the victim. During the assault, one of the suspects displayed an approximate 6-inch straight edge silver knife. The suspects forcibly took property from the victim and then fled the area in the SUV towards Carroll Avenue. The victim gave police descriptions of the suspects, which was broadcast to all surrounding jurisdictions. The victim suffered minor injuries, non-life threatening.
Hours after the above incident, on July 13, 2013, Montgomery County Police responded to the area of Hudson Avenue and Flower Avenue for the report of an armed robbery. The victim in this incident indicated that the suspects fled in a dark- colored Chrysler 200 vehicle – SUV style. A traffic stop was conducted on the above referenced vehicle. The suspects inside the vehicle were identified by the victim in the Montgomery County armed robbery. Search warrants were requested and issued for the vehicle, and items of evidentiary value tying the suspects to the incident in the Takoma Park, as well as Montgomery County, robberies were impounded.
The two suspects, later identified as Alan Richardson, 42, of Hyattsville, Maryland, and Henry John Cardillo, 36, of Boyds, Maryland, were arrested by Montgomery County Police and charged with armed robbery.
On January 13, 2014, in the Montgomery County District Court, Richardson and Cardillo each plead guilty to one count of robbery in Montgomery County, Maryland. Richardson’s sentencing date is scheduled for January 29, 2014, at 9:00 am. A sentencing date for Cardillo has not yet been scheduled.
