On January 27, 2014, the Takoma Park Police Special Assignment Team (SAT) were working a stolen auto detail in reference to the recent increase of auto-related crimes. During this detail, detectives located a stolen rental vehicle to the rear of 7411 New Hampshire Avenue. Surveillance was established with the assistance of Takoma Park Police Officers.

At approximately 11:14 pm, two female subjects entered the stolen vehicle, which traveled to the 7500 block of New Hampshire Avenue where a traffic stop was conducted. The occupants were identified, taken into custody and transported to the Takoma Park Police Department. Wright was arrested for driving the stolen vehicle, as well as for being in possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) - not marijuana. The "renter" of the stolen vehicle was identified as Jeryl Montgomery II, who had an outstanding warrant for the theft of the rented vehicle. Montgomery turned himself in at the Takoma Park Police Department.

Both Wright and Montgomery were arrested, charged accordingly and transported to the Montgomery Country Central Processing Unit.
