FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Chief Alan M. Goldberg from the Takoma Park Police Department announces the arrest of Quinton Andro Battle, 17, of Suitland, Maryland, for Armed Carjacking, Armed Robbery, Felony Firearm Use; Possession of Handgun, Theft $10,000 to Under $100,000 and Theft less than $1,000. Battle has been charged as an adult.

On January 11, 2014, at approximately 5:56 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the area of Walnut Avenue and Eastern Avenue for the report of an armed robbery. The victim had been robbed at gun point and property was stolen. Also, on January 24, 2014, at approximately 9:02 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7000 block of Sycamore Avenue for report of a car-jacking and armed robbery. The victim parked her vehicle on Beach Avenue at Sycamore Avenue (facing Sycamore Avenue at the corner). The victim saw the suspect walking on Sycamore Avenue towards Beach Avenue. The victim exited her vehicle and was walking to her residence when she was approached by the suspect who demanded property. After hesitation, the suspect pulled out a black gun and pointed it at the victim. The victim complied and the suspect drove away in the victim's vehicle in an unknown direction. Lookouts were given to all surrounding agencies.

On February 8, 2014, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to a robbery in the District of Columbia. The victim had been walking and accosted by two suspects and property was stolen.

MPD officers located the Takoma Park carjacked stolen vehicle on Lamont Street in northwest DC. Shortly after locating the stolen vehicle, MPD officers spotted two suspects as described by the victim from the February 8 robbery. A short foot pursuit ensued and ended with the apprehension of the two suspects; Battle was found hiding underneath a residence. One of the suspects was detained by MPD and charges were brought by their department. Battle was charged with trespassing on private property.

Investigation by Takoma Park Detectives led them to believe that Battle was responsible for the two incidents on January 11 and January 24 in Takoma Park. On February 26, Takoma Park's Criminal Investigation Division (CID), Special Assignment Team (SAT) and Prince George's County SWAT executed a search warrant for the residence of Battle. Battle was located at the residence and was arrested. Items of evidentiary value were found at Battle's residence and were taken into custody by Takoma Park officers. Evidence was also located linking Battle to other crimes outside the City.

Battle was arrested, charged accordingly and transported to the Montgomery Country Central Processing Unit.
