FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chief Alan M. Goldberg of the Takoma Park Police Department announces the arrests of Bryant Boyd, 36, and Leonard Navarro, 19, both of Takoma Park, Maryland, for 2nd Degree Assault, Disorderly Conduct and Hindering.
On March 20, 2014, at approximately 8:45 pm, Takoma Park Police officers and detectives from the Special Assignment Team (SAT) responded to the 8100 block of Roanoke Avenue, Takoma Park, Maryland for a noise complaint/disorderly call. Officers advised the subjects to cease their disorderly actions, but they refused to comply. Both Boyd and Navarro began yelling profanities at the police officers, which drew a crowd of on-lookers. Boyd, standing behind a screen door, spit on one of the officers. After being advised he was under arrest, Boyd refused to exit the premises forcing officers to enter the residence to place him into custody. While attempting to place Boyd into custody, Navarro placed himself in between the officers and Boyd in an attempt to hinder his arrest, resulting in his pushing one of the detectives.
Boyd and Navarro were both placed under arrest, taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
