On April 5, 2014, in the 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue, detectives from the Special Assignment Team (SAT) observed Mario Mata-Solis (known gang member) walking within a group of males, southbound on New Hampshire Avenue from University Blvd. SAT detectives recognized Mario Mata-Solis as having an outstanding warrant for burglary. Surveillance of the group was set up and detective's watched the group enter a room at a local hotel. It was confirmed during this time that Mario Mata-Solis did have an outstanding warrant for burglary. A warrant inquiry of Hunegnaw was also conducted and revealed he also had an outstanding warrant for possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS).

Detectives approached the room, and upon doing so, smelled a strong odor of Marijuana emanating from inside. Entry into the room which was full of Marijuana smoke, was made. Jameel fled into the bathroom and attempted to barricade himself inside. However, he was quickly detained and brought outside the bathroom revealing his having in his possession an "RG" .22 caliber revolver. In addition, multiple CDS items were located in plain view of the detectives. Before leaving the area, an individual walked toward the room and he was stopped by detectives and found to be in possession of CDS paraphernalia. He was issued a criminal citation and released.

Jameel was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit (CPU) and was charged with the firearm possession.

Mata-Solis, Mario was transported to CPU for the outstanding burglary warrant.

Hunegnaw was transported to CPU for the outstanding CDS warrant.

All seven subjects were charged via criminal citations for the CDS violations. Three of the seven were released from the station after being processed.
