Takoma Park Police Department Weekly Crime Report: 8/30/13 - 9/5/13

Arrests:

7600 blk. of Maple Ave., on Saturday, August 30th at 11:35 p.m., a male 38, was arrested for having an open 2nd Degree Assault warrant.

1300 blk. of University Blvd., on Saturday, August 31st at 11:59 a.m., a male 31, was arrested for having an open violation of a protection order warrant.

7500 blk. of Maple Ave., on Wednesday, September 4th at 3:00 p.m., a male 47, was arrested for having an open driving under the influence of alcohol warrant.

Ward 1:

Assault

7300 blk. of Cedar Ave., on Tuesday, September 3rd at 11:37 p.m., officers responded to an assault that just occurred. An unknown male suspect and an unknown female suspect approached a female victim while she walked from the Takoma Metro Station. The male suspect grabbed the victims shoulder causing the victim to scream and flee the scene. The suspects fled toward the Takoma Metro Station. The victim was not hurt.

Residential Burglary

500 blk. of Albany Ave., on Saturday, August 31st at 3:03 p.m., officers responded to a burglary that occurred earlier. Unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked residence and stole property.

Larceny from Vehicle

6900 blk. of Laurel Ave., on Wednesday, September 4th at 9:53 p.m., officers responded to a theft that just occurred. Unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked vehicle and stole property.

Larceny

7600 blk. of Takoma Ave., on Saturday, August 30th at 4:15 p.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred earlier. An unknown female suspect stole property that was left unattended in a school hallway.

1000 blk. of Elm Ave., on Monday, September 2nd at 5:13 p.m., officers responded to a burglary that occurred earlier. Unknown suspect(s) pried open a window to gain entry into a residence and stole property.

Larceny from Vehicle

7000 blk. of Westmoreland Ave., on Tuesday, September 3rd at 7:37 p.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred earlier. Unknown suspect(s) broke a vehicle window to gain entry and stole property.

6400 blk. of Eastern Ave., on Wednesday, September 4th at 8:18 p.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred earlier. Unknown suspect(s) broke a vehicle to gain entry and stole property.

Residential Burglary

100 blk. of Ritchie Ave., on Tuesday, September 3rd at 1:29 p.m., a male 19, was arrested for burglary after he was observed attempting to force entry into a residence.

Larceny

7600 blk. of Flower Ave., on Wednesday, September 4th at 10:00 a.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred earlier. Unknown suspect(s) stole property that was left unattended in a classroom.

Ward 6:

Robbery/Carjacking

7400 blk. of New Hampshire Ave., on Saturday, August 31st at 11:41 a.m., officers responded to a carjacking that just occurred. A male victim was walking to his car when three male suspects approached him. One suspect pointed a knife at the victim and demanded the keys to the vehicle and other property. The victim complied and the suspects fled in the victim’s vehicle which was later recovered unoccupied. The victim was unharmed.

7900 blk. of Kennewick Ave., on Sunday, September 1st at 11:11 a.m., officers responded to a theft occurred overnight. Unknown suspect(s) damaged a vehicle door lock to gain entry and stole property.

7300 blk. of New Hampshire Ave., on Wednesday, September 4th at 8:10 p.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred earlier. Unknown suspect broke a vehicle window to gain entry and stole property.
