Takoma Park Police Department Weekly Crime Report: 2/14/14 - 2/27/14

NOTE: This Crime Report is for the prior two weeks. The Crime Report for 2/28/14 - 3/6/14 will be put out on Friday, March 7.

Arrests:

  • 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue (IHOP), on Sunday, February 16 at 3:49 am, a male, 26, was arrested for disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
  • 7500 block of Maple Avenue, on Monday, February 17 at 6:04 pm, a male, 28, turned himself into police on an open warrant for theft under.
  • 200 block of Philadelphia Avenue, on Monday, February 17, at 3:24 pm, a male, 58, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and possession of controlled dangerous substance (CDS) Marijuana.
  • 1300 block of University Blvd. (7-11), on Wednesday, February 19 at 3:40 am, a male, unk age, was arrested for 2nd degree assault and disorderly conduct.
  • 7500 block of Carroll Avenue, on Wednesday, February 19 at 11:37 pm, a male, 24, was arrested for possession of controlled dangerous substance (CDS) Marijuana and for an outstanding warrant for failure to appear for driving on a suspended license.
  • 6800 block of New Hampshire Avenue, on February 19, three males, 22, 23 and 24, were arrested for robbery, theft over $1,000, theft under $1,000 and conspiracy to commit all of the above. During the month of January and beginning of February 2014, there was a series of thefts/robberies of cell phones at commercial businesses throughout Prince George’s County, Montgomery County and the District of Columbia.
  • 7100 block of New Hampshire Avenue, on Thursday, February 20 at 3:55 am, a male, 37, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI), issued citation and released.
  • 1100 block of University Blvd., on Friday, February 21, at 11:56 am, a female, 40, struck a pedestrian which resulted in non-life threatening injuries. She was issued a citation and released.
  • 7600 block of Flower Avenue (WAH), on Tuesday, February 25 at 4:05 pm, a male, 23, was arrested for trespassing, issued a citation and released.
  • 8300 block of Flower Avenue, on Wednesday, February 26 at 1:57 pm, a male, unk age, turned himself in on an open warrant for 2nd degree assault. He was processed and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit (CPU).
  • 7800 block of Lockney Avenue, on Wednesday, February 26 at 2:42 pm, a male, 33, was arrested for 2nd degree assault.
  • 5800 block of Suitland Road, Suitland, Maryland, on Wednesday, February 26, a male, 17, was arrested for armed carjacking, armed robbery, firearm use during a felony, possession of handgun, theft under $10,000 to under $100,000 and theft less than $1,000.

Ward 1:

Fraud

  • 500 block of Albany Avenue, on Saturday, February 15 at 6:00 pm, officers responded for a fraud. Unknown suspects opened a Best Buy credit card under the victim’s name and spent money.

Assault

  • 7600 block of Takoma Avenue (Montgomery College), on Thursday, February 20 at 1:03 pm, officers responded for an assault; two students were fighting.

Theft from Auto

  • 7100 block of Maple Avenue, on Thursday, February 27 at 9:57 am, officers responded for a theft from auto. The victim’s property was taken from her vehicle sometime between February 25 at 11:30 am and February 27 at 9:45 am.

Ward 2:

Theft from Building

  • 7600 block of Carroll Avenue (Washington Adventist Hospital), on Friday, February 14 at 7:29 am, officers responded to the WAH for a theft. The victim’s property was taken from the ER by a known suspect, male, 48.

Vandalism

  • 900 block of East West Highway, on Wednesday, February 19 at 7:04 pm, officers responded for vandalism.

Assault

  • Unit block of Manor Circle, on Thursday, February 27 at 6:48 pm, officers responded for an assault.

Ward 3:

Residential Burglary

  • 6400 block of New Hampshire Avenue, on Wednesday, February 19 at 10:42 am, officers responded for a residential burglary. Unknown suspect(s) damaged the door.
  • 6600 block of Eastern Avenue, on Tuesday, February 25 at 3:09 pm, officers responded for a residential burglary. Unknown suspect(s) pried open the front door using an unknown object between 7:30 am and 3:00 pm.

Ward 4:

Fraud

  • 7500 block of Maple Avenue, on Saturday, February 15 at 12:27 pm, officers responded for a fraud. An unknown suspect used the victim’s Macy’s credit card.

Theft from Auto

  • 7600 block of Maple Avenue, on Sunday, February 16 at 12:27 pm, officers responded for a theft from auto.

Vandalism

  • Unit block of Ritchie Avenue, on Sunday, February 23 at 6:50 am, officers responded for a vandalism to auto. The vehicle’s rear passenger window was smashed out.
  • Unit block of Ritchie Avenue, on Tuesday, February 25 at 9:52 pm, officers responded for a vandalism to auto. The vehicle’s passenger window was smashed out.
  • 7600 block of Maple Avenue, on Thursday, February 27 at 4:52 pm, officers responded for a vandalism to auto. The vehicle’s rear window was smashed out.

Assault

  • 7900 block of Flower Avenue, on Sunday, February 23 at 5:47 pm, officers responded for an assault.

Ward 6:

Theft from Auto

  • 7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue, on Saturday, February 15 at 6:05 pm, officers responded for a theft. Victim believes her wallet was stolen while in a department store.

Fraud

  • 7800 block of Lockney Avenue, on Sunday, February 16 at 12:53 pm, officers responded for a fraud. Unknown suspect(s) took out a loan in the victim’s name.

Vandalism and Theft from Auto

  • 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue, on Tuesday, February 18 at 12:19 am, officers responded for a vandalism to auto. The vehicle’s front passenger window had been smashed out.
  • 1100 block of University Blvd., on Thursday, February 27 at 7:09 pm, officers responded for a theft from auto and vandalism. The vehicle’s window was broken out and property stolen.
  • 7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue, on Thursday, February 27 at 7:05 pm, officers responded for a theft from auto and vandalism. The vehicle’s rear driver’s side window was smashed out and property stolen.

Stolen Vehicle

  • 7500 block of Glenside Drive, on Sunday, February 23 at 3:28 pm, officers responded for a stolen vehicle. The victim’s red 1999 Jeep SUV MD#9AS5027 was stolen on February 23 between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm. The vehicle was entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database.

Assault

  • 7800 block of Lockney Avenue, on Wednesday, February 26 at 2:42 pm, officers responded for an assault.
