Once a week service is offered at the curb. Set out trash, in cans with lids, the night before collection. Limit of 50 pounds per can. STREETS & SIDEWALKS Takoma Park maintains 34 miles of streets and 28 miles of sidewalk in our City; information on pothole repair, Sidewalk maintenance, street sign replacement; snow removal, and streetlights. More>> Arborist Office: STORMWATER Takoma Park maintains the system of storm drains and underground pipes that manages storm water. Residents are charged an annual fee to pay for maintenance of the system. Applications are available at the Public Works office. Permit fees are listed, payable by check or money order to the City of Takoma Park. Call 301.891.7611 for more information. FOR BUILDING PERMIT INFORMATION CONTACT MONTGOMERY COUNTY: 240.777. 6370 TREE TRIMMING & REMOVAL: Fee: $25 Takoma Park has a stringent Tree Law designed to protect our urban forest. Residents wishing to remove or significantly trim a tree, greater than 7 5/8" in diameter, must apply for a permit. If the tree is dead, dying or hazardous, an application is still required. After the application is received, the Arborist inspects the tree. The property may be posted for a 15 day comment period prior to final decision. If a permit for removal is granted the resident must replant or contribute to the City's Tree Fund. If you are doing any construction work within the root zone of a tree you need to have an approved Tree Protection Plan. Please call the Arborist at 301-891-7612 for details. Tree Protection Plan DUMPSTER PLACEMENT: Fee: $25 To place a construction dumpster temporarily on the public right of way or City street. DRIVEWAY APRON INSTALLATION: Fee: $25 To install a new apron or enlarge or replace an existing driveway apron. For more information call 301.891.7633. STORMWATER PERMIT: If you are building a new residential or commercial building on expanding an existing building you need to contact the City Engineer to discuss a stormwater management plan or apply for a stormwater management permit.
