About Our Adult Programs

The Takoma Park Recreation Department provides adult programs and services that include health and wellness classes, art programs, sports, social activities, lifelong learning activities, and volunteer opportunities with an emphasis on diversity.

Most programs, activities, and meetings, take place at our facilities which are located in Takoma Park. For more information about our programs please see our current Activities Guide.

Ceramics, Ceramics Ceramics

We have three different classes for you to choose from (Hand Building, Sculpture or  Wheel Throwing).  Each has a additional material fee due to the instructor.  

When:
Hand Building:  Mondays, January 26 - March 9; 11:30 am - 1:30 pm
Sculpture: Fridays, January 23 - March 13; 11:30 am - 1:30 pm
Wheel Throwing: Mondays, January 26 - March 9; 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm or
                              Wednesdays, January 21 - March 11; 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Boom! Body Boot Camp

This high intensity boot camp is a workout for those who are serious about getting in shape. Our boot camp focuses on all areas of the body, improving stamina and overall health through the use of agility drills, plyometrics, Pilates and strength training. We will use great music to keep you energized and motivated. Instructors: Jeanette Chandler & Stacy Julien of StayJay Fitness.

When:
Wednesdays & Saturdays
Wednesdays, 6 – 7 pm
Saturdays, 9 – 10 am

Session 2: February 11 - March 7
Session 3: March 11 - April 4

Soca Motion

Ready for a new twist on Zumba? Ready to party yourself into shape? Soca Motion is an exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Caribbean-inspired, calorie-burning dance-fitness party that’s moving people toward joy and health. Co-sponsored by the Montgomery County Recreation Department. Instructor: KJ Total Fitness.

When:
Wednesdays 6 - 6:55 pm and Saturdays 9:15 - 10:15 am

Session 2: February 4 - February 28
Session 3: March 4 - March 28

Who:
16 and Over

 

Cardio-Intense Groove & Strength Training

Fly into big, fast, easy moves to a consistent beat. Always intense, with movements that will max you out. Working out has never felt this good. Workout includes strength training with resistance tools and Pilates-based core work. Participants should bring own mat. Instructor: Nancy Nickell

Fridays, 7 - 8:15 p.m.

March 6 - March 27

Softball League

The Takoma Park Coed Softball League is a fun and exciting recreational program for competitive adults of all skill levels. Games will be played on Sundays. 50% of team registrations must be comprised of Takoma Park residents to qualify for Resident Team entry fee. Roster limit is 25. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. All games are double-headers. Spaces are not guaranteed.

Free Agent Waitlist: Individual participants will be placed on a waiting list and contacted if space becomes available on a team. If space becomes available on a team you will be responsible to pay your registration and any other associated fees to that team. Spaces are not guaranteed.

When:
Sundays, 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Games start April 12th
