About Our Tot Programs
The Recreation Department offers several different Tots programs for age newborn to 5 years. These programs are intended to have toddlers learn through play and socialization. Find the perfect class or program for your toddler in our current City Guide.
Based on a German model, Kindermusik was developed in the United States over 30 years ago. It is It is taught worldwide and incorporates the early childhood musical foundations of Kodaly, Suzuki, Orff, and more. Becky Linafelt received her Kindermusik teaching license in 2003 and is proud to be part of the Takoma Park community as a mom and educator. She is a member of the Early Childhood Music and Movement Association (ECMMA), the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and the Maryland Music Teachers Association (MMTA).

Free Zumbini Demonstration on Saturday, September 27, 2014
Zumbini is a music and movement class for children, 0 to 3 years, to attend with their music-loving caregiver. We combine original Zumba-style music with dancing, singing, instruments, and scarves to create a fun and engaging 45-minute class. Each will receive a "Bini Bundle" which includes two copies of our class music and a beautifully illustrated story book! This event is Free but registration is required! Space is limited.
Demo will be held on Saturday at the Takoma Park Community in the Lilac Room at 9:30 a.m. or again at 10:30 a.m.

Takoma Park Community Playtime is an opportunity for parents and caregivers to enjoy open playtime, read stories, sing songs, work on craft projects, enjoy a wonderful outdoor playground, and socialize. Preschoolers love to exercise their imaginations through pretend play. Let's Pretend class members will develop this natural creative behavior through dramatic readings, improv, sensory exploration, physical experimentation, imagination exercises, singing/movement, props and games. We will warm up (like real actors), read a story, engage in exercises & experiments based on the story, and finally perform the story. Instructor: Gretchen Doughty.

Spanish for Tots
This class is composed of a mix of high-energy games, projects, music & movement, treasure hunts and other fun activities. Children will learn the Spanish vocabulary needed to express themselves and their needs through complete language immersion. There will be a $10 materials fee due to the instructor on the first day of the class. Instructor: Maria Rhoe

Suto Dance for Tots
The Suto Dance Company has offered quality dance instruction to all levels since 1973. Suto offers professional, well organized dance programs as well as producing spectacular annual dance performances. The importance of technique, musicality and styling is stressed to all students at any level of training.
