Parking Management Task Force
About the Parking Management Task Force
The Parking Management Task Force was discontinued by Council Ordinance 2021-39.
The Parking Management Task Force presented their draft recommendations and survey to Council on October 13, 2021. Council, at the Task Force’s request, discontinued the work of the committee, recognizing the limitations of doing community outreach during Covid.
On November 18, 2019, The City Council appointed volunteers to serve on the Parking Management Task Force to advise the Council and facilitate community input on the development of a City-wide Parking Management Plan.
The development of a City-wide Parking Management Plan will include the evaluation of meters, accessible (handicapped) parking, commercial vehicle parking, Residential Parking Permit zones, enforcement, City Code and regulations, parking “hot spots,” and EV vehicle and rideshare parking, and will take into consideration the connections between parking supply/pricing and personal vehicle usage.
The completed plan will include goals for fair, equitable, and consolidated parking management and may include recommendations for changes to City Code, Administrative Regulations, practices, procedures and enforcement to more equitably and efficiently manage the parking supply in Takoma Park and may include recommendations concerning sustainability and alternative uses of the public space currently devoted to vehicle parking.
