Takoma Park Safe Routes to School 5K - TKPK5K
The TKPK5K is Going Through a Transition
After 14 years of racing, thousands of community participants, and thousands of dollars raised in support of our local public schools’ safety and wellness programming, the TKPK5K as a city-managed race is coming to a close.
The mission and purpose of the race has evolved, and the City worked to transition its management into the hands of an external partner to continue its tenure into the future. However, after six months of discussions with community members, PTAs, and local and regional organizations, city staff were unable to find a suitable partner to guarantee the race’s future management.
Over the next months, the city will develop this page into an archive of race materials for the public to view and borrow should a management team come forward with interest in continuing the race in a new format.
Thank you to all the supporters, volunteers, and runners of the race through the years!
