About the 6450 New Hampshire Avenue Site Improvements

Using Maryland DHCD Community Legacy Program funds as an incentive, the City  partnered with the property owner of 6450 New Hampshire Avenue to incorporate green site features as part of the development of a two-story commercial building. The plan included a new sidewalk connecting New Hampshire Avenue to Sligo Mill Road, permeable pavers in the parking lot, and solar panels on the roof.

Current Project Status

Due to project delays, the construction of the building did not occur before the expiration of the grant funds from the Maryland Community Legacy grant.

Grant funded improvements include:1) Installation of 5’ wide concrete ADA compliant sidewalk; 2) Installation of stormwater management facilities, including permeable pavers in the parking area and driving aisles, underground perforated pipes, and bioretention area; 3) Installation of a small landscaped and furnished plaza on the northeast corner of the property; and 4) Installation of a roof-mounted photovoltaic array.
