Montgomery College Facilities Master Plan

About the Montgomery College Facilities Master Plan

The  Montgomery College Facilities Master Plan 2013 to 2023 was delivered to the Maryland Higher Education Commission in February 2016. The Takoma Park City Council provided comment on the plan to the Maryland Higher Education Commission on March 2, 2016.

Current Project Status – Community Survey

Following a nearly two-year process, Montgomery College President DeRionne Pollard will soon make a decision on the location of the College’s new Math-Science Building. You can offer your views on which Master Plan you believe should form the basis for the new building here (Survey). We encourage residents who submit comments to describe their stakeholder connection to the College.

Once a decision is made, there will be a public charrette process and a review by the County Planning Office, both of which will enable the community to explore design and construction details.

It should be noted that on Monday, June 19, 2017, Mayor Stewart and Ward One Councilmember Kovar expressed their support for the return to the College’s 2006-2016 Facilities Master Plan for the siting of the new Math-Science Building.  On June 26, 2017, Montgomery County Planning Board chair, Casey Anderson sent a  letter to the Mayor.

Community Conversations

In March 2017, Mayor Stewart and Montgomery College President Dr. Pollard extended an invitation to members of the community to participate in a series of three conversations about the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. Co-hosted by the Takoma Park City Council and Montgomery College, the last of these conversations was held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017. Information gathered during each of the three community conversations is available under “Links and Notes” in the right column of this page.
