Public Land and Open Space Management Plan

About the Public Land and Open Space Management Plan

The purpose of this project is to develop a Public Land and Open Space Management Plan to provide a vision, goals, and guidance on how public space will be used and maintained in Takoma Park. This plan will be an update to the City’s 1994 Open Space Plan (amended in 1999).

Current Project Status

Background information on the project was first presented at the March 2, 2015 City Council Work Session.  An inventory of amenities in City was conducted and the Takoma Park Streetscape Manual, which deals with public space improvements in the right-of-way, was adopted by City Council on July 20, 2016. City staff is currently developing a scope of work for the plan in conjunction with input from several Council-appointed boards and commissions.
