Silver Spring Intermediate Neighborhood Park, MNCPPC Improvement Plan

Project Description

Montgomery Parks is scheduled to begin renovating Silver Spring Intermediate Neighborhood Park located at 7801 Chicago Ave, Takoma Park, MD 20912

Construction starts in December and takes approximately 12 months to complete. The playground will remain open during most of the work period. 

Improvements include:
• Accessibility improvements
• New decks, walls, and seating areas.
• Improved play fields and multi-purpose courts
• Playground safety improvements and nature play area
• Bio-retention areas and landscape improvements

The park is surrounded on three sides by single-family homes and on the fourth side by Montgomery College’s Takoma Park Campus.

This project aims to enhance the access to the park and connections between park amenities, improve the existing amenities and play fields, and address ongoing drainage issues. Existing amenities within the park will remain. Potential new amenities may include a shade structure, a viewing area for the fields, and additional walkway connections.
