Film screening: The nuns, the priests, and the bombs: Join us Monday, Jan 25th at 8pm
The City of Takoma Park established the City as a Nuclear-Free zone with the passage of the Takoma Park Nuclear Free Act in 1983. The Act prohibits work on nuclear weapons, including transportation and storage of such weapons within the City, and prohibits the City from doing business with companies that produce nuclear weapons or their components, with very narrow exceptions.
The Nuclear-Free Takoma Park Committee oversees the implementation of and adherence to the Takoma Park Nuclear Free Zone Act.
In celebration of the entry into force of the U.N. Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, the City of Takoma Park Presents: The Nuns, The Priests, and The Bombs.
Please join us for an exciting and insightful film profiling this dedicated community’s forty-year struggle to move the world away from the nuclear brink.
