Participate in Ward Redistricting Meetings - Community Engagement Tonight: Oct 21 at 7pm

The City of Takoma Park is beginning the process to redraw the boundaries of the six city council wards. Redistricting takes place every 10 years after the U.S. Census when district boundaries for federal, state, and local elected offices are redrawn to reflect new and shifting population data. Residents of the city are invited to learn more about the process and participate in two community meetings this fall.

The meetings will be streamed to YouTube and recorded for viewing later.

During and after each meeting, residents can provide comments either in-person, by email, or through a survey available online or pick up a copy at one of our facilities. The City Council will meet in November and January to review the draft and final ward boundary maps respectively. Videos of all meetings will be available online for the public to view at their convenience.

Takoma Park encourages residents to participate in the process, including by drawing their own communities online to help identify neighborhoods, and by drawing their own district boundaries online using an interactive mapping tool.
