It is with deep sadness that Takoma Park announces the death of Ward 3 Councilmember Kay Daniels-Cohen on February 20, 2014. A news release has been issued.
A special election will be held to fill the Ward 3 Council seat. A date for that election has not yet been set. Information about special elections can be found here.
In lieu of sending flowers, the family of Kay Daniels-Cohen suggests, for those who wish to do so, that a donation be made in Kay's name to the Montgomery Hospice. Donations may be sent to:

About Kay Daniels-Cohen
With a degree in physical education from the University of Maryland, Kay has had a successful career in health, physical education and recreation instruction, coaching and management, beginning as an instructor and coach at West Virginia University in 1965, continuing in Physical Education administration and management in the Washington, DC area. Her company GlenTech, founded in 1993, focuses on improving business management, training and marketing.
Kay helped re-established the SS Carroll Neighborhood Association (400 plus households) as a powerful and viable neighborhood association, developing it into a major player in Takoma Park activities. Kay also has served on a number of City committees and was named Activist of the Year 2009 by the Takoma Foundation and The Takoma Voice for contributions to better the quality of life for Takoma Park residents and outstanding civic leadership.
