About Rental Requests with the Recreation Department

Spaces within one of the Takoma Park Recreation Department’s facilities or one of our park shelters may be available for your next family celebration or association meeting. Rental and service fees vary depending on the type of group renting (city residents, non-residents or commercial/business) and the equipment and staff required. Rental requests are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that Recreation Department events and programming takes precedence in scheduling.

Rental Availability

You can check room/shelter availability or create a request with ActiveNet or by visiting the Recreation Department office during regular business hours. Rentals can not be reserved back-to-back, there is a 30 minute Recreation Department window between each rental for staff purposes.

Permits are issued a maximum of 3 months in advance of the event date. However, rentals requested within a 10 window must be done in person at the Recreation Dept Office.

Effective January 1, 2016, online rental requests will need to be approved by staff before the rental is confirmed. You will receive electronic notification once the request has been approved. Payment will be required 72 hours after the rental has been approved or it will automatically be canceled.

Residential Rate Requirements

Resident rates apply to those persons who reside in, pay taxes to and are eligible to vote in the City of Takoma Park elections (if 16 years of age or older).

Non-resident rates apply to those who live outside of Takoma Park or those who have a Takoma Park mailing address but do not pay taxes to the City.

Commercial/Business rate will be applied to any rental held for business purposes, regardless of where the patron or business is located.

When registering for a class or conducting business as a Takoma Park resident, proof is required in the form of a state issued photo ID or current lease with a valid Takoma Park address.
