New Website to Launch Wednesday, January 22, 2025
On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, The City of Takoma Park will undergo the official transition of the takomaparkmd.gov website to the CivicEngage® platform. After a multi-year process of extensive conversations and internal stakeholder engagement, the City is finally ready to unveil its work to the Takoma Park community.
Background
The transition to CivicEngage® marks an important step for city communications efforts. The platform has everything needed to efficiently inform and empower our residents in one place at a cost tailored to our budget. Besides the improved look of CivicEngage®, its all-inclusive content management system software offers extensive functionality for all government areas, such as agendas, calendars, bids, news, facilities, and more.
Amongst other features, the website offers:
- Modern branded designs
- Extensive functionality
- Document and image management
- Alerts, notifications and online forms, payments, and service requests
- Website hosting and security
- Mobile-friendly interfaces
- Accessibility compliance
What to Expect
The transition to the CivicEngage® platform is expected to occur on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at around 2pm. During the website transition, City IT Staff will work alongside the CivicEngage team to transition from our current website to the new platform. While the changes are expected to be made in a matter of minutes, some users may encounter browser errors. We will monitor the website’s status and send a confirmation of when the transition has been successfully completed.
Please Note: The City URL (www.takomaparkmd.gov) will remain the same after the transition. However, any bookmarks and old URLs will be broken, resulting in a "404 file not found" error message. Shortened links (such as those created using Bitly) and QR codes directing users to a page on the old website will also be broken.
New Library Webpage
One change to expect is a new website URL for the Takoma Park Maryland Library, which will be found at https://library.takomaparkmd.gov following the transition.
