WSSC to Close Flower Avenue Between Piney Branch and Domer Avenue Tomorrow for Emergency Repairs

The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) has notified the City of Takoma Park that they will be closing Flower Avenue between Piney Branch Road and Domer Avenue tomorrow, December 7, to perform emergency repairs on a water main servicing 8606 Flower Avenue.

The closure is necessary to resolve a leak in the main and ensure uninterrupted service to the area. Repairs are scheduled to begin at approximately 7:00 or 8:00 am and should be completed between four to six hours.

In preparation for this work, the City has recommended that WSSC completely cone off the Sligo Creek Parkway side of Domer Avenue, as the Sligo Gate will be closed on Saturday, and any additional traffic congestion in this area could lead to significant disruptions.

Drivers are advised to:

• Use alternate routes during the repair period.
• Allow extra travel time if passing through the vicinity.
• Follow posted detours and instructions from traffic management personnel on-site.
