Code Enforcement

The Code Enforcement Division’s primary mission is to protect the health and well-being of Takoma Park residents through the preservation of its residential and commercial infrastructure.

Responsibilities include:

Community-wide public awareness enforcement of the Property Maintenance Code.
Provide for inspecting residential, commercial, and institutional properties and vacant parcels; provide technical and inspection services required for various home repair and antilittering initiatives.
Provide education and public awareness on enforcement of the City Code, including environmental laws.

Enforcement efforts are coordinated with other City departments and County and State officials to the greatest extent possible.

We also work closely with the community, maintaining positive relationships with Takoma Park business associations, neighborhood groups, property owners, and residents.
