Community Partners and Resources

The City of Takoma Park provides a wide array of services and programs to meet the needs of residents. However, we can't do it all! Fortunately, there are a number of community partners (non-profits and other service-oriented organizations) located in Takoma Park and surrounding jurisdictions that can meet a variety of needs that complement and supplement City Services.

The links below provide access to databases that include hundreds of organizations in the area that offer various social services, especially those geared toward children and youth, older adults, and people with disabilities. Services offered by the organizations include but are not limited to those related to mental, physical, and behavioral health; housing and rental assistance; legal assistance; transportation; employment; food assistance; veteran services; and immigrant services.

  • infoMONTGOMERY: infoMONTGOMERY has specialized directories linking residents to resources provided by over 500 organizations and over 1,300 programs.
  • Services 24/7: Service 24/7 is an online directory with links to hundreds of area organizations that provide a variety of human and social services. Although marketed primarily toward residents of Prince Geroge's County, the database includes organizations from all over the Greater Washington DC area.
  • Montgomery County 311:  MC311 provides a single contact number (311) and website for non-emergency requests for information and service requests for Montgomery County Government. Calls are answered by a live, highly trained, professional Customer Service Representative Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
  • Lifelong Takoma Resource List: Although the program itself no longer exists, the City of Takoma Park's Lifelong Takoma Resource list is still relevant and available on the City's website. The resources listed are geared primarily toward residents in Takoma Park who are aging or have disabilities.
  • Charles W. Gilchrist Immigration Research Center: The Gilchrist Center is a gateway for County immigrants: they can obtain information and referrals to programs and services offered by government agencies and community organizations, strengthen their life skills through English and basic computer classes, and increase their knowledge to prepare for civic life and/or U.S. citizenship. The Gilchrist Immigrant Resource Center is a community where residents can contribute their talents to help others, and it is a testament to Montgomery County’s commitment to building one of the world’s most welcoming communities.
