Shared City Streets Program
The City of Takoma Park allows street closures as a way to provide space for neighbors to come together and strengthen the community. Residential street closures for recreational activities or events require a permit.
Note: Permit applicants will be required to verify the manner in which they will be notifying the neighborhoods. Applicants must notify all neighbors on the block by flyer or electronic means, and post signs at either end of the street at least one week in advance. Online petitions are no longer required. For County and State road closures, there is a different process.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all street closure events are limited by public health restrictions as mandated by Montgomery County and state safety guidelines. The guidelines can found on our Covid_19 page at https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/covid19/reopening/.
