Facade Easement Grant Program

Façade Easement Grants may be used to improve commercial properties in Takoma Park located along Maple Avenue, Flower Avenue, Erie Avenue, Carroll Avenue at University Boulevard, and the east side of New Hampshire Avenue from University Boulevard south to Erskine Avenue. Eligible activities include visible improvements to building facade and surrounding areas, such as painting, window replacement, awnings, lighting, and signage; and permanent landscaping features such as outdoor benches, tables, and chairs.

The Program will provide a dollar for dollar match up 50% of the overall cost of eligible improvement expenses, with a minimum value of $2,000 and a maximum value of $15,000 per storefront. Similar easement and grant programs from past years for facade-related improvements have had significant positive impacts on the City’s commercial areas.

The program is not currently accepting applications.
