Takoma Park Minor Master Plan
Before moving to White Oak in 2019, the Washington Adventist Hospital was one of the largest employers in Takoma Park and contributed to the community for over 100 years. Now Montgomery Planning (M-NCPPC), in partnership with the City of Takoma Park, has the unique opportunity to revisit the area and update related portions of the 2000 Takoma Park Master Plan with the Takoma Park Minor Master Plan Amendment.
The Takoma Park Minor Master Plan Amendment will re-envision the Washington Adventist Hospital and University campuses, the Erie Center, and the area along Maple Avenue. The planning team will work with community members throughout the planning process to create a guiding roadmap for the development and community resources this area will be able to provide over the coming years.
For full details on this initiative, including timelines, goals, and frequently asked questions, check out the updated Montgomery Planning webpage.
Current Status
Montgomery Planning staff has entered its Visioning Phase of the project, which builds off of the background research about what is already in the area and begins to explore what could be a part of this area in the future. The feedback gathered during this phase will guide elements of what will be included as allowable uses in the final Plan.
To learn more details about the project’s current findings and share feedback, please visit the new Visioning Dashboard (link). The Dashboard includes digital versions of all the information shared and activities that were presented at the Community Visioning Open House in Fall 2022. Please browse the project posters and share your feedback.
