LBGTQ+ Community Liaison Officer
Corporal Cindia Torres (she/her/hers), a dedicated officer with a passion for community engagement and inclusivity, is the LGBTQ+ Community Liaison Officer for the Takoma Park Police Department. In this vital role, Corporal Torres is committed to fostering understanding, trust, and cooperation between law enforcement and the LGBTQ+ community.
Corporal Torres serves as the direct contact person for the LGBTQ+ community to address any law-enforcement or community-related concerns they may have. Along with our agency’s Victim/Witness Coordinator, Corporal Torres works with victims of reported hate crimes, offers assistance and resources as they navigate the criminal justice system. Strengthening the relationship between the police department and the LGBTQ+ community is an agency priority. Corporal Torres cultivates inclusion, promotes equity, and fosters acceptance through outreach, educational programs, and participation in community events.
