National Faith & Blue

National Faith & Blue

Thank you to everyone who came out to our National Faith & Blue Event on Saturday, October 7, 2023.  It was a fabulous turnout and a great time connecting with the community.  A special thank you to Rev. Gayle Fisher-Stewart (Takoma Park Police Chaplain) and Chris Daley and Yolanda de J. da Rosa of Sligo Seventh Day Adventist Church for co-hosting this multi-faith event!

We also thank Dean Lynes for coming out to join us to highlight the 400 years of African-American History initiative.  This initiative promotes contributions that African-Americans have made to the country for the last 400+ years.  Their video, which includes footage from Takoma Park’s National Faith & Blue event, will stream on Sunday, January 14, 2024, on their website at www.400yaahc.gov.

National Faith & Blue is for diverse communities to come together to celebrate the beauty of faith, foster understanding, and promote harmony among all people.  In a world that is often divided by differences, this event serves as a beacon of hope, encouraging dialogue, and building bridges between individuals of various religious backgrounds and those who wear the uniform to protect and serve.

Faith & Blue is not just a gathering; it is a powerful platform to showcase the common values and principles shared by different faiths and law enforcement agencies.  Through shared experiences, stories and cultural expressions, we aim to transcend boundaries and embrace the richness of our collective diversity.  By promoting communication, compassion and collaboration, we strive to create a stronger more inclusive society where everyone is valued and appreciated for their unique contributions.

Faith & Blue is based on the premise that strong communities are built on mutual respect and understanding.  Law enforcement entities and faith-based organizations are key pillars of the community, and when they work together, neighborhoods thrive.

We hope to see many in our community at our next event in October 2024!  If you have any questions, please contact Cathy Plevy at cathyp@takomaparkmd.gov or 301-891-7142.
