Click it or Ticket Campaign

Click it or Ticket is a campaign during the month of May each year to raise awareness of the importance of wearing a seat belt and using the proper child safety seats while operating or riding in a motor vehicle.

During the campaign, the City of Takoma Park Police Department officers stand at various places throughout the City during the campaign in order to issue tickets to any person not wearing a seat belt or who does not have their child properly restrained.  They also educate the public on seat belt usage and safety.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), “Click it or Ticket” is one of the most successful seat belt enforcement campaigns ever, helping to increase the national seat belt usage rate.
