Multifamily and Business Recycling Initiative

About the Multifamily and Business Recycling Initiatives

The purpose of this initiative is to ensure that all business and multifamily properties provide tenants an opportunity to recycle. Takoma Park Code Chapter 10.12 and 10.14 was amended in July, 2015 to mandate recycling in businesses and apartments.

Current Project Status

Information about the recycling initiative was sent to all business and multifamily owners and property manager. A resource list with information such as: commercial recycling hauler, recyclable items and recycling notice has been developed and can be viewed at: http://takomaparkmd.gov/services/business-and-multifamily-recycling/. City staff will develop public outreach strategies to educate business owners and property managers about the requirements set forth by mandatory recycling ordinance.
