Rooms & Amenities at the Takoma Park Recreation Center

Fitness Room

The Fitness Room at the Takoma Park Recreation Center has recently been updated! Stop by and see the equipment and renew your membership!  55+ community members can register for a FREE fitness room membership! Fitness Room memberships are for ages 16 and up and also allow access to the Gymnasium during open gym times. UPDATE: We are opening the fitness room Monday, Oct. 17th.  See below for details.

• A Fitness Room Membership is required and can be purchased at the front desk of the Recreation Center 
• One hour reservations must be made in advance by calling 301-891-7289 
• Reservations can only be made up to a week in advance 
• Only those on the same ActiveNet family account will be allowed to use the fitness room at the same time 
• Equipment will be sanitized between reservations by staff
• Fitness Room memberships are available for those 16 and older
• We will honor any unused time from active memberships as of March 13, 2020
• The Fitness Room closes to the public 30 minutes before the building closes
• This reservation system is temporary until an air purification is installed.

Gymnasium

The Takoma Park Recreation Center gymnasium area is slightly smaller than a regulation basketball court. It makes a great space for team sports, recreation leagues and fitness classes. They gymnasium hosts a full list of fitness classes for all ages and also open gym time depending on the season.

Meeting Rooms

The Takoma Park Recreation Center Front & Back Meeting Rooms are used for a variety of classes and Recreation Department offerings. These rooms are also available for rental for youth birthday parties, showers, and workshops during both regular hours and after hours.

Please note all programs, memberships and rentals at the Takoma Park Recreation Center now have a resident and non-resident rate. Residents refer to those living in the corporate limits of Takoma Park.

About the Takoma Park Recreation Center

The Takoma Park Recreation Center features two small meeting rooms (Front and Back), a gymnasium and a weight room.  Sports, arts, fitness, dance, crafts, self-improvement, games, hobbies, martial arts, and do-it-yourself instruction are among the activities offered. The center also hosts clubs, camps, special events, workshops and drop-in programs at various times throughout the year. Tots, youth, teens, adults, and seniors will find a variety of recreation opportunities available at the center. Programs offered at the Takoma Park Recreation Center are co-sponsored by the Montgomery County Department of Recreation. • $75.00 per hour  Non-Residents
• $95.00* per hour Business rate

*NOTE: $50.00 security deposit required. Check or money order only.

• $60.00 per hour Non-Resident rate
• $80.00 per hour Business rate

Please note the business rate applies to any rental held for business purposes (including non-profits), regardless of where the patron or business is located.

To check for availability for your next event, please use ActiveNet. Permits are only issued 3 months in advance of the event date. Recreation Department events and programming takes precedence in scheduling.

Rental Policies

Review Administrative Regulation No. 2011-1 and the Rental Requests page for regulations governing public use, facilities rentals and general responsibilities of the user.
