Takoma Park Safe Routes to School 5K - TKPK5K

The TKPK5K has Come to a Close

After 14 years of racing, thousands of community participants, and thousands of dollars raised in support of our local public schools’ safety and wellness programming, the TKPK5K as a city-managed race is coming to a close.

The mission and purpose of the race evolved over time, and the City worked to transition its management into the hands of an external partner to continue its tenure into the future. However, after six months of discussions in 2023 with community members, PTAs, and  local and regional organizations, city staff were unable to find a suitable partner to guarantee the race’s future management.

City staff have created a Handbook of the race management materials, available to share to interested race organizers.

Thank you to all the supporters, volunteers, and runners of the race through the years!
