Temporary Traffic Detour on Sligo Creek Parkway – Friday, Nov. 18

On Friday, November 18 Sligo Creek Parkway will be temporarily closed at the Carroll Avenue Bridge to allow for work related to the bridge reconstruction project. The closure/detour is expected to last from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on both days. The route for the secondary detour will include Old Carroll, Carroll, Lincoln and Maple Avenue.

Long Branch 5K Parking Restrictions and Temporary Street Closure – Sunday

On Sunday, October 16 there will be a 5K race from 7:00 am to approximately 10:30 am to support the Flower Branch Apartment fire families. There will be an officer assisting at Flower Avenue at Houston Avenue to close the road temporarily to allow runners to clear Flower Avenue safely. There will be no parking in the 600-700 blocks of Houston Avenue from 6:00 am to 10:30 am. Montgomery County Transit Services, Ride-On has been notified of the road closure and will seek an alternate route during the race time.

Road Closure – Unity in the Community Neighborhood Block Party

Carroll Avenue will be closed between Tulip Ave. and Columbia Ave. from 3:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, September 25 for the Unity in the Community Neighborhood Block Party event.

Parking Restrictions

There will be no parking on Tulip Avenue from Carroll Avenue down to Willow Avenue on both sides. There will be no parking on Willow Avenue from Tulip Avenue to Carroll Avenue on both sides.

No Parking will be enforced from 2:00-8:00 PM.

SHA Intersection Work along MD 410 & MD 195

The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) has been improving pedestrian crossing signals and curb ramps at several intersections along MD 410 (Philadelphia Avenue) and MD 195 (Carroll Avenue). Work will continue intermittently through November.

Lane Restriction – Carroll Avenue

Due to emergency repairs Carroll Avenue is restricted to one lane between Lincoln and Boyd Street. Washington Gas is on site performing repairs.

New Hampshire Avenue Recreation Center Closed

Due to Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) work in the area the Takoma Park Recreation Center (New Hampshire Ave.) will close at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, August 24 and will reopen on Thursday, August 25 at 2:30 PM.
