ARPA - Affordable Housing
ARPA funds will help the City provide emergency assistance to residents who may be experiencing potential eviction from rental or single-family homes. Affordable Housing projects include:
Multifamily Building Improvements and Electrification (FY23): The City of Takoma Park has made $1,000,000 in ARPA funding available to assist multifamily, condominium, and cooperative building owners in electrification and building improvements. Each grantee can receive an award of up to $49,999. Award amounts are dependent on the number of eligible applications received, the number of units in a building, and the work that is being proposed. During FY23, the City anticipates awarding $500,000 in grant funds for this initiative.
Emergency Rental and Utility Assistance (FY22): The City provided financial assistance to more than 65 households using ARPA funds. This is an ongoing program and funded in total by $750,000 in ARPA grant funds. Applications are processed as they are received. In FY 23 (June 2022-July 2023), $214,000 in ARPA funds are available for distribution.
